Concerto Competition Winners

2016 Concerto Competition – Woodwind Division Winner
Rebecca Park, age 16, has been studying the flute for five years with Dr. Nancy Andrew. Throughout her musical career, Rebecca has won multiple competitions and has also performed in auditioned ensembles, including the Colorado All-State Orchestra, CU Boulder Honor Band, Lamont Summer Academy's ensembles, the Stanford Youth Orchestra, a woodwind quintet and many more. She has won first place in the Colorado Flute Association Competition, CSMTA Rising Stars Competition, MTNA State and Division competitions and was a national finalist in the MTNA competition. Rebecca has also performed at Carnegie Hall by invitation when she won the International American Protégé competition in 2015 and will be performing there again in May of 2016. 

2016 Concerto Competition – Elementary Piano Division Winner
Hannah Park is 10 years old and is in the 5th grade at Skyview Academy in Highland Ranch. She started piano at the age of 6 and started participating in concerts and competitions after meeting her current teacher Chris Kim.  In 2015, Hannah was awarded 2nd prize in her age group in the New York Artist International Competition and performed in the Lincoln Center.  She is a finalist in the Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow show and will be competing with other finalists in March. Besides piano, Hannah loves other activities including practicing Yoga with her family and skiing.

2016 Concerto Competition – Junior Piano Division Winner
Karmen Grubišić was born in Reno, Nevada in 2003.  At four years of age she started piano lessons with Ms. Carmen Sandim of Boulder then continued her piano studies in Vienna Austria with Mr. Hrvoje Jugovic for a time.  Currently she is a student of Professor Andrew Cooperstock in Lafayette, Colorado.  Karmen attends Altona Middle School in Longmont where she is in seventh grade.  This will be the second time she has played a Mozart piano concerto with an orchestra.  In June of 2015 Karmen won the Rocky Ridge Music Center Concerto Competition and played the first movement of Concerto No. 21 as the piano soloist.

2016 Concerto Competition – Senior Piano Division Winner
Jonathan Kim is currently a 10th grader at Cherry Creek High School. He is participating as a second chair violinist in the Chamber Orchestra which has won a Grammy Award. Jonathan has only studied piano for few years.  He placed 2nd in the New York Artist International Competition and performed at the Lincoln Center in 2015. He is currently studying piano with Chris Kim.
