The Colorado State Music Teachers Association was founded in 1921 and is a professional nonprofit education organization affiliated with Music Teachers National Association founded in 1876.

Programs for Students

CSMTA Student Performance Activities (SPA)
The Pre-Collegiate Performance Activities are held annually during the CSMTA State Conference. Awards are given in Competitive Artist, as well as the noncompetitive Honors Category.  Interesting programs/classes are offered during this audition day. The CSMTA Concerto Competition
This competition is divided into categories for three age levels: A. for 8th grade and under, B. for 10th grade and under and C. for 12th grade and under. Winners perform with a live orchestra. Click on Student Activities for more information.

Student Achievement Plan
This popular CSMTA program involves over 2,000 students annually and is administered through local associations. At Achievement Day, two selections are performed and each student presents additional related achievements prepared from a list of options. Students receive a certificate acknowledging their level of accomplishment, and an evaluation of their performance. Go to Student Activities for more information.

Membership Information
Active membership is available to any individual professionally engaged in a music activity who is a member of the national and state associations. Active members receive American Music Teacher (national publication) and Notes & News (state publication) and are entitled to participate in all MTNA and CSMTA activities, to vote and to hold office.

To take full advantage of all CSMTA has to offer we also recommend participation for yourself and your students in the local association nearest you.

MTNA Dues: $65.00
MTNA Senior Dues (70+ yrs.): $48.75
CSMTA Dues: $40.00
CSMTA Student Dues: $17 (plus local dues)
